Therapy is not about having someone take control of your life, therapy is about learning how to take control of your own life by making positive changes.

Evonne Stephenson

Meet Rachel Ozick

I hold a Masters degree in clinical social work, from Haifa University. I  specialize in working with clients on body image, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, adjustment/acclimation to Aliyah, marriage and  motherhood.

I use an eclectic approach, combining psycho-dynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. I believe in short term therapy and teaching clients the tools necessary to become their own therapists so they can help themselves in future stressful situations.

I also run small seminars for parents, teaching skills to help them raise their teens with a positive body image, and how to talk to them about food in a healthy and constructive way.

I have been been living in Israel for 12 years and  I practice in English and Hebrew.

I live in Zichron Yaakov with my  husband and three children.

Disordered Eating

The last 20 years has seen a significance rise is disordered eating, whether that be overeating, under-eating or picky eating. We will work together to diagnose and address the problem, find solutions and learn tools to achieve balanced health.

Anxiety and depression are often linked. We will work together using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to understand the underlying issues, utilize the available resources, learn new coping skills, identify triggers and prevent relapse.

Healing Trauma - Tapping

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – this is an empirically proven technique I use alongside traditional therapy to heal emotional and physical issues rapidly and efficiently. I use it for trauma, phobias, compulsions, cravings, & everyday situations that trigger emotional reaction. It’s a way to “tap” into the body’s energy system via negative emotions and then heal them.

Using Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a tool that I find particularly valuable when working with over-eating. We will work on mindful eating and really listening to your body. I also use mindfulness for alleviating anxiety in my clients. Meditation and mindfulness can be helpful even for those who are not spiritually inclined. It's a process of becoming aware of our body and properly interpreting what we need. By allowing ourselves to occasionally slow down, it brings into focus what is most important.

Adjustment to Life Changes & Aliyah

Often the big life changes, such as Aliyah, marriage, motherhood and adulthood can bring up dormant issues or highlight new stresses. We will work to identify the problems and find solutions together.

Body Image and Self Confidence

In our modern times, when the media has so much influence over our lives, we are bombarded by an image of woman that is not only thin, but often airbrushed or surgically enhanced. This unrealistic thin-ideal, for the majority of women, not only creates discontent, but often can trigger more dangerous outcomes. In order to combat this pervasive image we will work together to recognize the illusion of what we are presented with, and how we can improve our reality and expectations and strive for a healthy lifestyle.

Accepting your body at any stage

Women go through many body permutations is their lives, so just when we get adjusted to one body, another begins to form. This happens at puberty when we develop breasts and hips, during pregnancy, after pregnancy and during menopause. For some women, these transitional stages can cause extra body anxiety, angst, disordered eating and even eating disorders. We will address these issues together, finding solutions that help combat unhealthy triggers.
